Our student ministry is not just a group of friends; it's a community of like-minded students dedicated to knowing Jesus and sharing Him with the world! Don't miss out on Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. where we explore God’s Word more deeply.
If you love music and can sing or play an instrument, we also have a youth worship band that welcomes new members. They practice most Sunday mornings following the worship service, and on months that have a fifth Sunday, they have a special opportunity to lead worship for Youth Sunday!
Our students have opportunities to participate in summer camps, retreats, and other events that help build strong relationships and encourage each other to live out their faith every day.
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. The mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. These boxes will be shipped internationally to children affected by war, poverty, natural disasters, famine, and disease.
Every shoebox gift provides an opportunity for evangelism and discipleship, which leads to the multiplication of new believers and churches around the world.
Liberty Avenue is on a mission to fill 425 shoeboxes this year, uniting our efforts each month to gather designated items that will bring joy and hope to a child. We also serve as a collection center for boxes in Madison County and surrounding areas.

Once upon a time, just outside a small town in eastern Kentucky lived a hazel-eyed boy with a fair complexion. His life was pretty normal for the time period. Most of his days were spent after school just trying to find something to do to occupy his time without getting into too much trouble. His older brother played football for the local high school, so one of those somethings was throwing a football up in the air to himself hoping to catch the big game-winning touchdown. Summers were spent often times on his grandfather's farm who just so happened to be a local Pastor in the area. Weekends would be spent attending church with Grandpa and that is how the young boy first heard about sin, hell and most importantly Jesus. The old country preacher would shout to the top of his lungs with tears rolling down his face about how Jesus died to save us from our sin and how He rose from the dead. The young boy was both intrigued and captivated that the kind loving man he grew up with could be so passionate about something, but it never really sank in as to why.
As time went on, the young boy grew taller and stronger and by the time high school rolled around he was making his own mark on the small-town football scene. During his freshman and sophomore seasons, his team went undefeated and most games were won rather easily.
As the senior season rolled around, the small town began to be filled with hype as the school's first state championship seemed to be just within reach. The team rolled through their first games on top of the competition getting better and better each Friday night. The boy, now a young man, was dreaming big of future opportunities, to do what no one in his immediate family had ever done before, go to college. But those dreams would come to a devastating halt on a near record-breaking night as he suffered a C1 spinal cord concussion, ending his future in football.
Upon waking up in the hospital with blood on his brain and numbness in his legs, his future wife, family, friends and of course Grandpa were all gathered around him. Anger and confusion filled his mind along with the ultimate question, WHY? The only comfort he could seem to have was the fact that Grandpa was praying.
Graduation soon came and was gone and the glory days had all but vanished but somehow the young man, now healed from his injuries, found himself back at the old country church once again listening to the now white-headed fiery preacher still talking about sin, hell and Jesus. Except this time, it was different. The young man began to realize that it was himself that was guilty of sin, was headed for hell and that he was the one that needed Jesus. And it wasn't long until he cried out to God and trusted Jesus to save him.
As providence would have it, wouldn't you know that the young man became a preacher and is now telling the same story his Grandpa once told, hoping that someone else might find their need for Jesus just as he did, so many years ago.
I often think about the chain of events in that young man's life and now thank God that he didn't let me die from that injury without Jesus, but instead spared me and saved me. And I want you to know that he can do the same for you.
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:9 KJV
